Clearlake Capital is taking full control of Chelsea FC, acquiring the ownership interests of Todd Boehly and Mark Walter to consolidate its grip on the Premier League side it has co-owned since 2022.

Clearlake, which has served as Chelsea's majority owner since the 2022 takeover, said its focus now was to keep investing in the club, and stressed that its incoming full control would not disrupt the existing setup. There will be no changes to the day-to-day operations, leadership, or strategy at the club.

"As we move to full control our focus is to continue investing in the Club's infrastructure, sporting performance, player development and delivering long-term success," said co-founders Behdad Eghbali and José E. Feliciano, who thanked Boehly for his contribution as chairman. Boehly said it had been "an honour to serve as Chairman" and was "confident that Chelsea is well positioned for continued success under Clearlake's leadership."

The transaction resolves the ownership structure that has underpinned Chelsea since a consortium led by Boehly and Clearlake bought the club in 2022. Under joint ownership, the group invested heavily across squads, the training base at Cobham, and the academy. Taking sole control gives Clearlake undivided authority over a marquee holding as investor appetite for sports franchises continues to build.
