Apple VP Tom Marieb on iPhone Duo Crease: 'Hold Us Accountable'

Apple hardware engineering VP Tom Marieb spoke with TechRadar about the upcoming iPhone Duo and addressed concerns about crease visibility. The iPhone Duo features a matte nano-texture display designed to reduce glare and minimize the appearance of the crease over time. When asked whether the crease would become more visible like other foldables, Marieb said the matte finish helps and asked consumers to hold Apple "accountable" on crease visibility.

He noted that glossy displays make topology differences easier to spot, which influenced the matte design choice. Marieb also expressed pride in the iPhone Duo's hinge, saying it took extensive work to perfect the torque profile so it feels solid, like a high-end automobile door. The hinge supports multiple use modes including partially folded seating and standing positions.

The iPhone Duo will be available for pre-order on October 16 and launches October 23, starting at $1,999.
