Sony is adding free, ad-supported TV (FAST) channels to the PS5 in the US. The console's media tab will offer more than 100 live channels from Sony Pictures Television along with on-demand options covering movies, TV shows, anime, news, sports, documentaries and more. Movie channels include action, sci-fi and horror content from Movie Sphere by Lionsgate, 50 Cent Action and Sony One Horror Hits.

Viewers can watch shows like Community, The Walking Dead, Deal or No Deal USA, Fear Factor and Ice Road Truckers. Anime offerings feature Naruto, Sailor Moon, Hunter x Hunter and Death Note, plus gaming, esports, podcasts and comedy programming. Sony plans to expand the service to Canada and other regions with refreshed programming and new channels.

This move aims to keep PS5 users engaged with Sony's platform rather than switching to competitors like Pluto, Roku or Tubi, potentially generating extra revenue from existing customers. The timing faces backlash over game disc deprecation and recent movie access losses in Europe.
