Slate Auto's $24,950 electric truck, dubbed the Blank Slate, targets affordability with a minimalist design lacking automatic windows and speakers. The Michigan startup offers over 200 optional accessories and vinyl-wrap exteriors for customization. Performance matches the 2026 Ford Maverick with a 135 kW motor, 181 horsepower, 195 lb-ft of torque, and 2,000-pound towing capacity.

However, the 63 kWh battery delivers only 205 miles of range, far below competitors offering 280-450 miles. Slate argues this is intentional, citing Consumer Affairs data showing the average driver travels 37 miles daily. Charging reaches 80% in 30 minutes on Level 3 superchargers, 5 hours on Level 2, and adds 20-50 miles overnight on Level 1.

The company partnered with Treehouse for home Level 2 installation. Production begins later this year at the Warsaw, Indiana factory with a $300 preorder. The truck suits daily commutes but falls short for long-distance travel.
