Staff at Candy Crush Saga developer King could go on strike next week, according to Swedish labor unions Unionen and Sveriges Ingenjörer. King's developers have been negotiating for years, but issued a strike notice after their proposed collective bargaining agreement was rejected by studio leadership in August.

"Our members at King are entitled to secure conditions, a say in their workplace and clear rules that apply to everyone," Unionen posted on LinkedIn. Sveriges Ingenjörer noted that unless an agreement is reached with a mediator, the strike begins September 25.

King declined the CBA, claiming existing benefits were better for global employees. The strike notice may pressure management back to the table. Microsoft acquired King in its $68.7 billion purchase of Activision Blizzard in 2023.

Blizzard Entertainment workers ratified their first union contracts this week, winning wage increases and protections. King's Candy Crush Saga earned $875 million in 2025, adding pressure to negotiations.
