His ouster followed a $1.5 billion streaming loss. After Chapek's firing, Iger returned before stepping down again this year, handing the role to Josh D'Amaro. Chapek claims he championed D'Amaro's rise, writing he was instrumental in the current CEO's ascent despite D'Amaro being a "relative unknown" before his endorsement.
