Sandra Bullock and Nicole Kidman, joined by Joey King and Maisie Williams, discussed the making of 'Practical Magic 2' in an early-morning video call. The sequel, directed by Susanne Bier and based on Alice Hoffman’s book series, sees Bullock and Kidman reprise their roles as Gillian and Sally Owens, with King and Williams playing Sally’s daughters. Bullock, 62, and Kidman, 59, reflected on the original film’s initial criticism and its later cult status, noting how the story resonated over time.

They emphasized the importance of honoring the first film while making the sequel stand alone. Bullock said they 'pushed that boulder uphill' to make the sequel happen, as no one initially expected it. Kidman noted the idea had been 'percolating' for years.

The actresses shared personal connections to the film, with King recalling watching it at age 10 and Williams citing its influence on her fashion and mood boards. The sequel aims to destroy the family curse for good after a tragic accident involving Kylie’s boyfriend. Stockard Channing and Dianne Wiest return as the wise great-aunts.

The film releases in theaters on Sept. 11.
