A Bay Area couple, Shouyong Zhang and Shili Chen, both 76, have been arrested and accused of shooting and killing their son-in-law, Jonathan Mc Kinsey, 40, in a parking lot at Dublin Sports Grounds in Dublin, Calif., on Saturday afternoon. Mr. Mc Kinsey, a director of engineering at The New York Times, was found with multiple gunshot wounds around 3 p.m. The couple, who live in Dublin and are the parents of Mr. Mc Kinsey’s wife, Candice Jang, are being held without bail on suspicion of murder, conspiracy, and child endangerment. No motive has been released, but records show Mr. Mc Kinsey and his wife had a turbulent marriage, with both filing domestic violence restraining orders against each other last year in Alameda County. Mr. Mc Kinsey, a transgender man, accused his in-laws of abusing him because of his identity, including being punched by his father-in-law during recovery from double mastectomy surgery. Ms. Jang accused Mr. Mc Kinsey of fracturing her vertebra during an argument. Witnesses reported hearing gunshots and seeing the couple walking calmly from the scene.

Police were alerted via 911 calls and found the suspects nearby. The couple is scheduled for arraignment on Wednesday, and it remains unclear if they have legal representation.
