United States women's national team midfielder Savannah De Melo is suing University of Louisville Health and two doctors following a cardiac arrest during an NWSL match on 14 September 2025. The 28-year-old, who plays for Racing Louisville, collapsed in the first half and alleges medical negligence caused severe physical injuries. Her lawsuit, filed with Jefferson Circuit Court, names Dr Sarabjeet Suri and Dr Jennifer Daily, Racing Louisville's chief medical officer.

Documents state De Melo was referred to Dr Suri in March 2025 after reporting chest pain and dizziness. Nearly six months later, she suffered the cardiac arrest and was diagnosed with ventricular tachycardia. De Melo has not played since the incident.

On the anniversary of her collapse, she posted on Instagram reflecting on the emotional difficulty of the year, noting the uncertainty and thanking supporters for privacy while she continues recovery from the undiagnosed cardiac arrhythmia.
