New England Patriots wide receiver A. J. Brown struggled in his return from injury, dropping a career-high three passes in the team's 26-19 victory over the New York Jets.
Brown, targeted 10 times, finished with just three receptions for 27 yards. He acknowledged his timing was off and took full responsibility, stating there are no excuses for his performance. The drops included a deep pass from quarterback Drake Maye and a crucial third-down slant.
Brown returned from a right high ankle sprain sustained in Week 1 and played 52 snaps, exiting healthy. Despite the early struggles, he guaranteed he will be ready for the road game against the Chicago Bears. Maye expressed optimism about building chemistry with Brown, calling him a great player with excellent hands.
Coach Mike Vrabel also voiced confidence that Brown will bounce back for the remainder of the season. Brown's availability for the Bears game could be affected if top receiver Romeo Doubs remains sidelined with a shoulder injury.
