International Baseball & Roster Moves
Venezuela captured their first World Baseball Classic title Tuesday night, staging a dramatic finish by defeating the United States 3-2 after Eugenio Suárez delivered the decisive late-game heroics, overcoming a game-tying home run by Bryce Harper in the eighth inning. While the aftermath sees analysts immediately projecting future Team USA rosters for the next tournament, established major league personnel continue to adjust contracts, with relief pitcher Tommy Kahnle agreeing to a minor league contract with the Boston Red Sox.
Spring Training Pitching Updates
The focus now shifts to mid-February preparation, as the sport anticipates a major pitching debut Wednesday when Shohei Ohtani is slated to take the mound for the Los Angeles Dodgers in a spring training contest against the San Francisco Giants. This marks Ohtani's first official pitching appearance of the exhibition season, providing early insight into his workload management ahead of the regular season opener.
