A new report from the Pentagon Inspector General details significant U.S. military and diplomatic losses during the first four months of the Iran war. The document reveals that hundreds of military facilities were destroyed and helicopters for evacuating casualties were pulled from four countries. The U.S. diplomatic mission in Iraq sustained over 600 Iranian attacks, resulting in more than $157 million in damages.

The State Department estimated approximately $184 million in total damage to embassies and consulates in the Middle East. The report notes that the Pentagon has never received a separate appropriation to fund the conflict, relying instead on existing budgets for training and maintenance. While Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth did not request additional funds before launching combat operations, the White House submitted a $67 billion supplemental funding request on June 24, with $21 billion allocated for replacing expended munitions.

The inspector general also highlights strategic inventory shortfalls, noting bottlenecks in producing solid rocket motors and high-grade explosives. Despite these findings, Pentagon spokesman Sean Parnell has claimed that reports of U.S. munition shortages are false. The covered period spans from Feb. 28 to June 30.
