Dewan Militer Tolak Perintah Mengeluarkan Troops Trans

Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth announced a ban on transgender troops in September, ordering review boards to discharge them. However, at Marine Corps Base Quantico and across the Navy, boards are defying these orders, voting to retain trans service members instead. In nine of twelve cases reviewed, Navy and Marine Corps boards have chosen to keep transgender personnel, rejecting the administration’s directive.

The Pentagon has kept proceedings secret, but interviews with service members and lawyers reveal a growing pattern of resistance. While the Army and Air Force have largely complied, the Navy and Marine Corps are pushing back, with board members calling the process unjust. These decisions are only recommendations and could be overturned by politically appointed secretaries.

The Trump administration argues that trans troops—about 4,250 people or 0.1% of the military—are a burden on effectiveness, a claim contradicted by military findings. President Trump’s executive order cited morale and resource concerns, but hundreds of qualified personnel have already left voluntarily. Those who stayed faced delayed hearings and rigid instructions to dismiss anyone showing transgender tendencies, regardless of performance or service record.
