PE Giants Near $1.5B Anthropic AI Venture

Blackstone, Hellman & Friedman, and Goldman Sachs are close to launching a roughly $1.5 billion joint venture with AI developer Anthropic, according to PE Insights. The vehicle would represent one of the most direct attempts yet by major private equity sponsors to embed frontier artificial intelligence capabilities into their portfolio companies at scale.

The initiative aims to transform what has so far been an ad-hoc set of pilots inside individual buyout assets into a structured, jointly funded platform. The vehicle drew commitments from a globally diversified investor base spanning pension funds, sovereign wealth funds, insurance companies, endowments, and other institutional and wealth backers, with both new entrants and returning LPs participating.

Separately, Blackstone has filed an amended S-11 for Blackstone Digital Infrastructure Trust, pointing to an IPO of approximately $1.75 billion at an indicated $20 per share price. The dual developments signal growing PE appetite for both AI infrastructure and the specialized vehicles needed to deploy advanced capabilities across portfolio companies.
