EQT Life Sciences backs $152m Vaderis rare‑disease trial

EQT Life Sciences invests $17.5m in Vaderis Therapeutics as part of a $152m Series B round for the Swiss biotech. The capital will fund the global Phase 3 HEROIC trial of Engasertib, targeting hereditary haemorrhagic telangiectasia (HHT).

HHT affects roughly 1 in 3,800 people and currently has no approved treatment, causing severe nosebleeds, chronic anaemia, and life‑threatening vascular complications. Earlier proof‑of‑concept and long‑term data published in the New England Journal of Medicine demonstrated meaningful and sustained patient improvements, giving EQT conviction in the science.

Christoph Broja, a partner at EQT Life Sciences, will join Vaderis’s board as an observer. He said the firm is pleased to support the team as Engasertib advances to Phase 3 “with the goal of potentially bringing these patients their first dedicated therapy.” Azmi Nabulsi, president and CEO of Vaderis, called the financing and HEROIC launch “a defining moment for HHT patients,” noting it will be the first Phase 3 study using a molecule developed specifically for the disease.

EQT Life Sciences, formed in 2022 from LSP’s European life‑sciences venture portfolio, has raised over $3.5bn and backed more than 150 companies. The round underscores growing investor interest in rare‑disease drug development.
