EIOC Guard™ Runbook: SOC-Style Emotional Response

DEV Community •
×

The DEV Community has released the third part of the EIOC Series, focusing on the playbook that complements the pattern and detection system introduced in previous installments. This operational layer is a SOC-style runbook tailored for emotional incident response, providing a structured and repeatable framework for real-world use.

This runbook outlines clear trigger conditions for activation, including cognitive fog, boundary collapse, and autonomic stress. It categorizes incidents into severity levels, from SEV-1 (Critical) to SEV-4 (Low), allowing for targeted responses. The process involves validating signals, identifying sources, and classifying severity to guide containment and recovery efforts.

The runbook also includes emotional kill chain mapping and containment procedures, offering specific steps for cognitive, boundary, and relational containment. It emphasizes strategies like slowing interactions, documenting events, and seeking support. Post-incident reviews and long-term hardening strategies ensure ongoing emotional security.

This comprehensive approach makes the human emotional layer observable, detectable, and defensible, providing a robust framework for managing emotional incidents.
