Developer Builds Clipboard Tool for Cross-Device Sync

Anurag G., a remote developer, got fed up with losing clipboard content between devices and built his own browser extension. After repeatedly losing code snippets and templates, he found existing clipboard managers inadequate. They either didn't sync across devices or saved too much irrelevant history.

His solution, available for Chrome and Edge, syncs clipboard history and prioritizes frequently used items using real-time Supabase subscriptions. It works around complex site restrictions like Google Docs and handles Manifest V3's service worker limitations. The tool tracks actual paste events rather than just copies.

He faced challenges with Clipboard API restrictions, cross-browser compatibility, and maintaining state persistence. Despite testing across Firefox, Chrome, and Edge, he admits the project evolved in isolation and could have benefited from earlier user feedback. The extension is still a work in progress with open questions around permissions and sync conflicts.
