New Zealand rugby legend Portia Woodman-Wickliffe has announced her retirement from international competition for the second time. The 34-year-old winger ends a decorated career that saw her become the country's all-time leading try-scorer while helping the Black Ferns claim World Cup titles in 2017 and 2022.

Woodman-Wickliffe initially stepped away after securing Olympic sevens gold last year but returned for the 2025 World Cup in England. Her international career concluded with 22 World Cup tries and 50 overall test tries, surpassing Doug Howlett's New Zealand record. Her final tournament ended with a bronze medal after Canada eliminated New Zealand in the semi-finals.

The two-time World Rugby women's player of the year leaves the sport as one of New Zealand's most decorated rugby exports. Woodman-Wickliffe expressed gratitude for representing her country, calling it a moment she will "cherish forever" as she transitions to life beyond professional rugby.
