Skiing duo Menna Fitzpatrick and Scott Meenagh will carry Great Britain's flag at the opening ceremony of the Winter Paralympics on Friday in Verona. Welsh Para-Alpine skier Fitzpatrick, 27, is Britain's most decorated Winter Paralympian with six medals, including three golds. She will compete just three months after a significant knee injury.

Scottish Para-Nordic skier Meenagh, 36, competing in his third Games, became the first Briton to win a medal at the World Para Nordic Skiing Championships, claiming silver in the 12.5km individual biathlon in 2023. The ceremony will take place at the historic Verona Arena, a Roman amphitheatre. The Games run until 15 March, marking the 50th anniversary of the first Winter Paralympics.
