Williams and Robertson Advance in Welsh Open

Two-time champions Mark Williams and Neil Robertson cruised into the last 16 of the Welsh Open with impressive victories in Llandudno. Williams defeated Martin O'Donnell 4-1 with three half-century breaks, while Robertson overcame Hossein Vafaei by the same scoreline after coming from behind.

Williams, who won the event in 1996 and 1999, will face 2018 runner-up Barry Hawkins in the third round after Hawkins defeated Pang Junxu 4-2 with breaks of 69, 72 and 52. Robertson, Welsh Open champion in 2007 and 2019, showed his class with breaks of 100 and 118 in the final two frames against Vafaei after the Iranian took the opening frame.

Other notable results saw Jackson Page defeat Chang Bingyu 4-3 with a crucial 101 break in the penultimate frame, while Jack Lisowski came from 3-1 down to beat Xiao Guodong 4-3 with an 83 break in the decider. The evening session features top players including Kyren Wilson, John Higgins and defending champion Zhao Xintong as the tournament progresses through the third round.
