Viktor Hovland holds a one-stroke lead over Ryan Gerard heading into the final round of the PGA Tour's $40m Tour Championship in Atlanta. The Norwegian, who won the FedEx Cup in 2023, birdied the 17th and 18th holes for a five-under 65 to reach 15 under. Gerard carded a 66 to sit at 14 under.

World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler, the 2024 champion, posted a bogey-free 66 to finish three back at 12 under alongside Adam Scott and Ludvig Aberg. Rory McIlroy, a three-time FedEx Cup winner, surged into contention with a nine-birdie 63 — the joint lowest round of the day — to sit five shots back at 10 under with Cameron Young. McIlroy credited better positioning on the greens for his hot putting streak on the back nine.

Defending champion Tommy Fleetwood and Alex Fitzpatrick are at seven under, while Justin Rose and Matt Fitzpatrick sit at eight under. Scotland's Robert MacIntyre shot 63 to reach four under in the 29-man field.
