The world number 71 claimed women lack the "courage" to handle disruptive crowds during his near-five-hour match against French teenager Moise Kouame on Court Suzanne-Lenglen.

Vallejo, who lost 6-3 7-5 2-6 2-6 7-6 (10-8), also complained about excessive time between points and described the crowd as "annoying" and "disrespectful." The Paraguayan maintained that a male umpire would have better controlled the situation. The French Tennis Federation has been contacted for comment on the controversial remarks.

The 17-year-old Kouame received strong crowd support throughout the extended match. Vallejo later attempted to clarify his comments on social media, claiming they were "taken out of context" and applied only to Carvalho specifically.
