The club is currently in Germany for pre-season training, with owner Solak present as they await the FA's decision. Southampton has played several friendlies, including matches against Eastleigh, Eintracht Braunschweig, and SC Paderborn. Their pre-season concludes with a match against Preussen Munster before facing Colchester in the Carabao Cup and starting their Championship campaign away at Watford.

Eckert expressed confidence in his team's ability to compete for the top two spots, despite the challenges of a long season and the presence of relegated clubs. He believes last season's FA Cup success provides momentum and belief for the new campaign. "We've shown what we are capable of doing and we need to make sure we connect to that as quick as possible," Eckert stated, emphasizing the team's potential even against stronger opponents.
