A category‑one seat for the 13 November Rugby World Cup final at Sydney’s Stadium Australia now costs A$1,9501,035), the first time a World Cup final ticket has topped the £1,000 mark. The price eclipses the 2023 French final’s €950 (£823) and far exceeds Japan 2019’s £717. This steep top tier sets a new benchmark for the sport’s premier event.

Organisers defend the tiered pricing, saying premium seats align with other marquee sport spectacles and subsidise a broad low‑end offering. Managing director Chris Stanley told the Sydney Morning Herald that tickets under A$100 (£53) will still be available to keep the event accessible. Cheapest adult tickets sit at A$40 (£21), with children at A$20 (£11) for all matches except the semi‑finals and final.

Full pricing was released at the start of a two‑week sales window that closes on 2 June, after which oversubscribed games will be allocated by ballot. More than 750,000 of the 2.5 million tickets sold in the pre‑sale phase already show strong demand, with Ireland’s pool‑stage fixtures flagged as ‘high demand’ on the ticketing portal. Results arrive 23 June, informing fans whether they secured a seat.
