Rugby Star Burger Business

Former England and Leicester Tigers hooker Tom Youngs has traded scrums for burgers since his 2022 retirement, running 'Scrums and Buns' on his Norfolk family farm. The former international rugby star, who played alongside his brother Ben at both club and country level, now spends weekends serving up burgers while working full-time on the arable side of his father Nick's farm.

Youngs credits farm work with helping him through loneliness following the death of his wife Tiffany shortly after retirement. The rugby legacy continues, with his father also having played scrum-half for Leicester in the 1980s. "I've always wanted to do something like this," Tom said, finding success in this unexpected career transition.

The venture partners with cousin George and a professional caterer, with the entire family helping out. Youngs welcomes families and rugby fans alike, providing autographs for young fans while educating visitors about farming practices. "It's been fantastic welcoming so many families enjoying the countryside," he concluded, highlighting how the burger bar successfully bridges rural life and community connection.
