England leg-spinner Rehan Ahmed is heading to the Indian Premier League after securing a late-season move to Delhi Capitals. The 21-year-old, who has earned 27 international caps across formats, will link up with the franchise immediately for his first IPL experience. He will remain with Delhi until at least the group stage conclusion on 24 May.

Delhi Capitals currently sit fifth in the IPL table with three wins and three losses from their opening six matches. Ahmed joins the franchise for a fee of £60,000, providing additional spin-bowling options for the remainder of the campaign. His arrival offers valuable experience in the world's premier T20 league.

Leicestershire director of cricket Claude Henderson praised the move as recognition of the county's academy system. Ahmed will miss four County Championship matches and at least two T20 Blast group games during his IPL stint. This season, he has taken six wickets and scored 56 runs in Leicestershire's first two Championship matches since their promotion to Division One.
