With two rounds left, Newcastle Red Bulls sit bottom for the fourth consecutive year, 19 points adrift of ninth‑placed Gloucester. They have conceded 47.75 points per game while scoring just 16.18, confirming a widening gap. The Red Bull takeover in August promised a revival, but late‑season recruitment left the squad thin and reliant on one‑year deals.

Steve Diamond acted as consultant director until October 2025, then left after the opening match, forcing Alan Dickens to secure the club’s only Premiership win over Gloucester in January. Stephen Jones stepped up as interim coach in February, steering Newcastle to the Challenge Cup knockout stage for the first time in four years. The side then lost the next four league games 259‑51.

Ahead of the 2026‑27 campaign, the Bulls announced 23 new contracts covering every position, highlighted by England scrum‑half Raffi Quirke and former Sale Sharks forward Cam Jordan. Simultaneously, 26 players will depart after the final home game on 6 June. Incoming head coach Dan McFarland arrives from Japan with a massive integration task, and his first match will be against Sale Sharks.
