British number one Emma Raducanu will make her return to the tour at the Strasbourg clay-court event after a two-month absence, as she seeks match practice before the French Open. The 2021 US Open winner withdrew from the Italian Open earlier this month and has not competed since her March 8 third-round loss to Amanda Anisimova at Indian Wells.

Ranked 30th in the world, Raducanu will miss a seeded position at the second Grand Slam of the year following her post-viral infection. The Briton has won seven of her 14 matches this season, including a run to the Transylvania Open final in February. Last year in Strasbourg, she defeated top-20 player Daria Kasatkina before losing to Danielle Collins.

Raducanu gave no clear indication she would withdraw from the Italian Open despite speaking to media just 30 minutes before the announcement, stating she would only return when "100% ready." Her absence comes after a challenging season that included a second-round exit at the Australian Open.
