Tadej Pogacar seized the yellow jersey on stage three of the Tour de France, a challenging 195.9km route from Granollers to Les Angles. The Slovenian rider launched a decisive attack in the final kilometer, surprising pre-stage leader Jonas Vingegaard of Visma-Lease a Bike. Pogacar's victory was significantly aided by his teammate Isaac del Toro, who set a blistering pace on the final climb.

The sweltering conditions in the Pyrenees, with temperatures already exceeding 40C in neighboring regions, added another layer of difficulty to the stage. Pogacar's win puts him level on time with Vingegaard, but he takes the lead due to stage winner's bonus points. This marks a significant shift in the general classification, setting up a compelling rivalry for the rest of the race.

Pogacar is now aiming for his fifth Tour de France title, which would place him among cycling legends like Eddy Merckx and Bernard Hinault. Richard Carapaz and Paul Seixas finished third and fourth respectively. British rider Tom Pidcock is currently the highest-placed Briton in 11th overall.
