Ospreys have signed former Australia wing Marika Koroibete, who spoke with head coach Mark Jones before committing to the Welsh club. Koroibete said he aims to help young, high-potential players reach the next level and take pride in mentoring them. He switched from rugby league to union in 2016 after playing for Wests Tigers and Melbourne Storm in the NRL, and was spotted by scouts in Fiji.

Since his 2017 Australia debut, he has scored 20 tries in 63 Tests, featuring at the 2019 and 2023 World Cups. Koroibete becomes eligible to represent Fiji ahead of next year's tournament in Australia. He is the fourth Australian to join Ospreys following Ryan Smith’s impact in 2025-26.

Head coach Mark Jones also signed former Wallabies captain Liam Wright, centre Lalakai Foketi, and back Lawson Creighton. Jones praised Koroibete as an explosive talent, saying the signing reflects the club’s ability to attract overseas players of his calibre and will benefit youngsters with a ripple effect on their development. Ospreys play Coventry in a friendly on Friday, 4 September at 19:30 BST, ahead of their URC opener at Sharks on Saturday, 26 September.
