Ospreys head coach Mark Jones confirmed some players walked out of a Tuesday meeting after learning owners Y11 Sport & Media are in talks to buy rivals Cardiff. A training session was cancelled amid what Jones described as a mix of anger and frustration. The WRU has named Y11 as preferred bidder for the Arms Park side.

Players, including Wales captains Jac Morgan and Dewi Lake, later released a joint statement saying they'd been "left in the dark" by the WRU and Y11. Jones fully supported their actions, calling the group tight-knit. The uncertainty follows WRU plans to reduce Wales' professional regions from four to three.

Jones said the squad was told Ospreys will continue for the 2026-27 season with jobs guaranteed for 18 months. He stressed the region must remain part of Welsh rugby's future. Preparing for Friday's URC match against Lions has been difficult, with Jones urging his team to focus on performance despite the off-field turmoil.
