Olivia Breen to captain Wales at Glasgow 2026

Para-athlete Olivia Breen has been appointed captain of Team Wales for the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games. The 29-year-old will lead a delegation of 115 athletes, marking her fourth appearance at the Games. Breen is a decorated competitor, having secured gold medals in the T38 100m at both the 2022 Birmingham Games and the 2018 Gold Coast Games, where she also won bronze in the long jump.

Her previous international success includes two Paralympic bronze medals. Breen expressed her profound honor at the appointment, stating her desire to make Wales proud. Team Wales Chef de Mission Gethin Jones praised Breen's character and leadership qualities, calling her the "perfect choice" for captain.

The Glasgow Games are scheduled to run from July 23 to August 2, 2026. Team Wales will feature a diverse group of 67 female and 48 male athletes, with ages ranging from 16 to 73, competing across 10 sports.
