Andy Murray has agreed to coach rising Brit Jack Draper for the upcoming grass‑court season this summer. After a year away, focusing on family, golf and business, Murray turned down full‑time roles until Draper asked. He told his wife he would enjoy helping his childhood idol, turning the partnership into a ‘super‑coach’ role.

Draper, 24, has been battling fitness setbacks that have seen his ranking slip since a Davis Cup win in 2023. Training sessions at the National Tennis Centre aim to restore his consistency before he debuts at Eastbourne this year, hoping to prove form ahead of Wimbledon. Murray believes the 24‑year‑old “brilliant player” can compete at the highest level once healthy.

The tournament will also feature Serena Williams’ return, initially in doubles with a possible singles wildcard, after Murray discussed her comeback at last year’s Miami Open. While Murray admits a personal return at 44 is unlikely, he remains active in golf, padel and even coaching his son’s chess. His varied pursuits keep him still entrenched in sport.
