A potential retirement bout for MMA legend Cris Cyborg was nearly called off after her opponent missed weight by a massive seven pounds. The challenger, aged 34, tipped the scales at 152lbs for a scheduled contest at 145lb. Despite the significant discrepancy, organizers agreed to let Saturday’s match proceed as a catchweight fight, ensuring Cyborg’s PFL featherweight world title remained secure.

Reacting on social media, Cyborg, 41, simply wrote: "We don't care." She had initially feared the bout would be scrapped after learning of the weigh-in failure on Friday. While acknowledging Pederneiras' team maintains high professional standards, she highlighted the recent weight class changes.

"I think they were going to cancel the fight and everything, but there was a conversation to make sure the fight wouldn't get cancelled, and they reached a catchweight agreement," Cyborg told ESPN Brasil. Confident she made championship weight, she expressed genuine happiness that the showdown would occur, potentially marking a fitting end to her historic 21-year journey.
