Millenic Alli earns his first senior Republic of Ireland call-up for Tuesday's friendly against North Macedonia in Dublin. The 26-year-old Portsmouth winger, who began his career in England's non-league and moved to Exeter City before a £1.5 million transfer to Luton Town, was included in manager Heimir Hallgrimsson's squad. Alli impressed during training at Abbotstown on Sunday, having been overlooked by Ireland previously.

His recent form for Portsmouth, scoring once in their Championship survival bid, caught the manager's eye after injuries ruled out Jack Taylor and midfielder Sammie Szmodics. £1.5 million was paid by Luton for Alli in 2024. The call-up comes despite Ireland's World Cup hopes ending in a penalty shootout defeat to the Czech Republic in the play-off semi-final. North Macedonia also face a friendly after their semi-final loss to Denmark.
