Michael O'Neill has said any decision about his future must work for him, Blackburn Rovers, and Northern Ireland. The interim boss took over at Ewood Park in February while continuing as Northern Ireland head coach, and he's now confirmed the club's Championship survival with a game to spare after winning five of his 15 games in charge.

O'Neill told BBC Radio Lancashire that combining both roles long-term is not sustainable. He lives in Scotland and travels to Belfast for Northern Ireland duties while commuting to Blackburn. His contract with the Irish Football Association runs until 2028, and Blackburn have the option to activate a termination clause. "The conditions have to be right for all three parties," he said.

The 54-year-old said he doesn't feel the survival should be celebrated, describing it instead as a relief that gives fans hope. "I was brought in here to do a job and we've done that," he said. Blackburn finish their season at home against relegated Leicester on Saturday.
