Megan Barker stormed to victory in the British elite women's circuit race at the National Road Championships in Aberystwyth, reclaiming the title she first won in 2023. The 28-year-old Cardiff rider timed her sprint perfectly to cross the line first on the coastal course.

Barker edged out 18-year-old Carys Lloyd by less than three hundredths of a second in a photo finish. Lloyd will join Barker representing Wales at this summer's Commonwealth Games in Glasgow. Scotland's Eilidh Shaw completed the podium in third place.

The Welsh one-two followed Zoe Backstedt's time trial triumph in Lampeter on Saturday, where she led an all-Welsh podium ahead of Anna Morris and sister Elynor Backstedt. Matthew Bostock claimed the open race title, outlasting Jacob Bush and Thomas Portsmouth on the five-lap 1.6km circuit.

Sunday's road race championships in Aberystwyth will crown the final winners as Welsh cyclists dominate the national showcase.
