Canadian swimmer Summer McIntosh shattered the women's 200m butterfly world record at the Pan Pacific Championships trials in Montreal, clocking 2:01.65. This remarkable performance erases the last standing world record from swimming's 'supersuit' era, which was previously held by China's Liu Zige at 2:01.81 since 2009.

McIntosh, a three-time Olympic gold medalist, expressed her disbelief and elation, calling the achievement "the absolute world." She specifically targeted the 200m butterfly record, which she considered an almost untouchable mark set before the ban of high-tech suits in 2010. The roar of the home crowd in the final 50 meters fueled her final push to the record.

This latest record adds to McIntosh's already impressive collection. She also holds world records in the 200m and 400m individual medley, and the 400m freestyle, solidifying her dominance across multiple disciplines.
