Liebmann, 19, cut nearly four seconds off the men’s 1500m freestyle record at the European Aquatics Championships in Paris, finishing in 14:26.79—3.88 seconds faster thanbtn American Bobby Finke’s 2024 Olympic time. He became the first swimmer to go under 14:30, a feat last seen when Australian Grant Hackett set a 14:34.56 record in 2001.

Douglass, 24, reclaimed the women’s 50m freestyle record for the second time this summer during heats at the Pan Pacific Championships in California. She clocked 23.49 seconds, beating Gretchen Walsh’s recent mark of 23.55 after Walsh had previously lowered the record from 23.59 in June.
