Mark Selby claimed his fourth China Open title with a 10-6 victory over Noppon Saengkham in Taiyuan. The four-time world champion, 43, has now won 26 ranking events and this success lifts him from ninth to fifth in the world rankings.

Selby trailed 4-2 early despite a 138 break in the third frame, but leveled at 4-4 before the interval. He then reeled off four frames with breaks of 58, 90, 69 and 53 to establish a commanding lead. Saengkham, who had beaten Judd Trump, Ronnie O'Sullivan and Shaun Murphy to reach only his second ranking final, responded with a 71.

Selby, using a new cue for the first time in 20 years, laid two excellent snookers to take the 14th frame. After Saengkham won the next, Selby sealed victory with another half-century to claim the £250,000 top prize, with Saengkham taking £100,000. The Thai player's run lifts him 18 places to 27th in the rankings.
