Marcus Smith Wants More From England

Despite an impressive 11-try victory over Fiji, fly-half Marcus Smith believes England has "plenty to improve on" as they prepare to face Argentina in the Nations Championship. Smith, who filled in at scrum-half during the Fiji match, a role he hadn't played since school, stated his satisfaction would only come if England breaks Argentina's unbeaten run in Santiago del Estero.

"That record is there to be chased and broken, hopefully," Smith told the Rugby Union Weekly podcast. "We want to finish on a high so that we can all enjoy our summer holidays and have something to smile about." England faces the Pumas on Saturday at the Estadio Unico Madre de Ciudades, a stadium where Argentina has won both of their previous matches.

Smith, a specialist fly-half who has also played full-back for England, performed well in the unfamiliar scrum-half position. "I used to play there when I was at school... in my head, I try and simplify the game. I play what's in front of me, do the basics well, and I hope I did that for the team," he explained. This match marks the final leg of England's Nations Championship tour, and Smith is looking forward to reuniting with several Argentine club-mates from Harlequins.
