Luke Humphries claimed his second ProTour title of the year with an 8-4 victory over Jermaine Wattimena in the Players Championship 17 final in Leicester. The world number two recovered from a 2-0 deficit to dominate the Dutchman, who was bidding for his second final victory of the season.

The 31-year-old Englishman averaged an impressive 104.89 against Wattimena - his sixth ton-plus average of the tournament. Humphries also defeated in-form Wessel Nijman during his run to the final, showcasing the clinical form that has established him among the world's elite players.

"There's been moments this year when it hasn't gone my way. But when it clicks for me I am one of the best players in the world," Humphries told PDC Darts. "It sets the standard for myself and it's up to me to provide that a lot more than I do."

Wattimena had previously been a beaten finalist at Players Championship 12 earlier this year. The season features 34 Players Championship events across the year, with the finals scheduled for Minehead in November.
