Mile world record holder Josh Kerr is setting his sights on the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, viewing it as a significant opportunity for redemption. Kerr was a spectator at the Glasgow 2014 Games, watching fellow Scot Jake Wightman. Being overlooked for the Gold Coast Games four years later was a major disappointment, compounded by a last-place finish in the 1500m at the Birmingham Games in 2022.

"This is something we were dreaming about as kids," Kerr stated, recalling his time in a Scottish development squad. "Being part of Team Scotland is just everything I wanted to do when I got into the sport." He expressed his high regard for the Commonwealth Games, placing it alongside the Olympics and World Championships.

Having lived in the United States for an extended period, Kerr emphasizes his connection to his Scottish roots. "These are my roots and this is my blood and I just want to do myself proud and do Scotland proud," he declared, eager to represent his country on a major stage.
