Former fast bowler John Blain has been reinstated to the Cricket Scotland Hall of Fame after being temporarily suspended in 2022. The 47-year-old, capped 118 times for Scotland, was initially inducted in May 2019 but removed two years later when Cricket Scotland declined to explain the reasons behind their decision.

Blain described his Hall of Fame removal as "one of the biggest blows" during a challenging period for him and his family. In January 2024, he was informed that allegations against him were "unfounded" and no further action would be taken. However, the independent report's findings were only revealed by Blain himself five months later as he called for an inquiry into the governing body's actions.

In a separate investigation by the England and Wales Cricket Board in March 2023, Blain was one of six players found guilty of racism at Yorkshire County Cricket Club. He later argued that the findings for Cricket Scotland "fatally undermines the ECB process." Cricket Scotland's board approved the Hall of Fame appointment panel's recommendation to reinstate Blain, subject to his completion of equality, diversity and inclusion training approved by the organization.
