Jak Jones secured his maiden professional title by defeating David Gilbert 3-2 in the final of the 2026 Championship League. The 32-year-old Welshman, who turned professional in 2010, has finally claimed a ranking title after a 16-year wait.

Jones, a runner-up in the 2024 World Championship, expressed his disbelief, stating, "It feels unreal, I was more nervous tonight than I was in the world final." He acknowledged the significance of the win, calling it "a monkey off my back."

The victory in Leicester, where he earned £33,000, follows his notable run as a qualifier in the 2024 World Championship, where he defeated Stuart Bingham and Judd Trump en route to the final. This win also secures him a spot in the Champion of Champions event in November.
