Forward Jai Arrow has retired from the NRL at 30 after doctors confirmed a diagnosis of Motor Neurone Disease. The South Sydney Rabbitohs confirmed the decision Monday, noting that medical advice prevents Arrow from training or playing at level. Arrow, who made 98 Rabbitohs appearances, ended his career. His retirement comes as the Rabbitohs sit fifth on the ladder with nine wins from fifteen matches.

Arrow’s statement thanked teammates, staff and fans for support as he battles a disease that weakens nerves controlling muscles. He asked for privacy while he and his family focus on treatment and rehabilitation. He also highlighted specialist reviews and that his condition remains under medical monitoring. The club’s CEO Blake Solly praised Arrow’s bravery, reminding supporters that his contribution to the 2021‑2024 campaigns will not be forgotten.

Arrow’s retirement strips a versatile forward from a Rabbitohs side eyeing a top‑four finish. Coach Jason Demetriou must reshuffle the back‑row, likely promoting younger talent such as Sam Baker from the reserves. The club mourns a player admired for his grit, while the league reflects on the toll MND has taken on former stars.
