Ireland cricket captain Paul Stirling has stepped down from his T20 leadership role to focus on his batting performance. The veteran all-rounder announced his decision after leading Ireland in multiple formats, citing a desire to maximize his on-field contributions. Stirling emphasized he remains fully committed to the national team and will continue as ODI captain.

Cricket Ireland's high performance director Graeme West praised Stirling's leadership, calling him an 'outstanding leader' who has guided the team through crucial tournaments. Stirling will now concentrate on helping Ireland qualify for and compete in the ICC Men's Cricket World Cup scheduled for October-November. The T20 World Cup qualification for 2028 has already been secured.

The timing allows Ireland to transition to new T20 leadership before the upcoming series against India in June. Stirling expressed enthusiasm about supporting his successor and contributing to Ireland's continued growth on the international stage. He described representing Ireland as 'the greatest privilege' of his career.
