Huddersfield Giants are facing an unprecedented injury crisis with 16 first-team players unavailable ahead of their Challenge Cup tie against Hull KR. The Super League basement side revealed the extent of their problems in a statement on Tuesday, describing the situation as the worst they've faced.

Among the casualties, Connor Carr, George Flanagan, and Matty English are set to miss Saturday's match pending scan results. Several players including Niall Evalds, Adam Swift, and Adam Clune are expected back in early April, while others like Liam Sutcliffe won't return until July. Sam Hewitt is undergoing surgery Tuesday, and Tanguy Zenon is cup tied after appearing for Halifax earlier this season.

The timing couldn't be worse for Huddersfield, who sit at the bottom of Super League and now must face the Challenge Cup holders with a severely depleted squad. This injury list represents more than half their match-day team, creating an almost impossible situation for the coaching staff as they attempt to field a competitive side.
