Graham Heathcote, a legendary Altrincham midfielder with over 500 appearances, believes the club can replicate its historic giant‑killing feats. The former 100‑goal player recalls the '70s and '80s era when the part‑time side reached the FA Cup third round four times, beating Everton, Spurs, and Liverpool, and later knocked out Birmingham City in 1986. Heathcote credits a fierce determination and unique mindset that elevates a one‑off performance beyond regular weekly play.
Current manager Neil Gibson, who joined to steer the club away from relegation, sees a chance to continue that tradition against League One Notts County, aiming to etch new memories for fans while pursuing the dream of first‑time EFL promotion. Altrincham, near Old Trafford, fights to keep its supporter base strong despite being a community club that turned professional only recently.
