Lewis Hamilton described the 2026 season as a "huge challenge" as Ferrari launched its new SF-26 car. The seven-time champion, after a difficult debut year with the team, called working on the new regulations "fascinating." Ferrari failed to win a single race in 2025 and is under pressure to perform competitively this year.

The new rules mandate a 50-50 split in hybrid power unit energy, active aerodynamics for battery recovery, and fully sustainable fuel. Hamilton stressed the driver's central role in energy management and system understanding. Teammate Charles Leclerc added that drivers must adapt quickly to new systems, relying initially on instinct before shifting to precise data.

Ferrari's new car ran for the first time at Fiorano before private pre-season testing in Barcelona. Technical director Loic Serra emphasized the need for a flexible car architecture to allow for in-season development. The first grand prix is in Australia from March 6-8.
